Ranil Jayawardena MP
Ranil Jayawardena MP was appointed as Minister for International Trade in May 2020. He was first elected as the Member of Parliament for North East Hampshire in May 2015, and was re-elected in 2017 and 2019.
Before serving as a Minister, Ranil was a Member of the International Trade, Home Affairs, Procedure and Arms Export Controls Committees, and was appointed by the Speaker of the House of Commons to the Chairmans’ Panel. He was also made Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party by the Prime Minister.
Prior to his election to Parliament, he was a Councillor, serving as Deputy Leader of the Borough of Basingstoke and Deane. An alumnus of London School of Economics, he combined his service in local government with working for Lloyds Banking Group plc and is a Freeman of the City of London. He also has wide ranging commercial experience from the pharmaceutical, construction, transport and leisure sectors.
Ranil now lives in Bramley, in the north of Hampshire, with his wife and daughters.
Graham Zebedee is HMG’s Chief Negotiator for the UK’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. He is also the Director of the Trans-Pacific Negotiations and Policy Directorate in the Department of International Trade (DIT), based in London, and is responsible for UK trade policy with developing countries. He previously led the programme to continue the effects of EU free trade agreements when the UK left the EU and, negotiated the UK-Japan FTA.
Before working in DIT he was UK Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo (2015-2017), worked in the Home Office on border and immigration (2013-14) and national security (2010-13) issues, in the FCO on Africa (2008-10), in the British Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan (2005-07), in the FCO on counter-proliferation (2003-05), in the European Commission (2001-02), the UK Permanent Representation to the EU (1999-2000) and the Department of Trade and Industry (1995-1999).
Graham is married with two children (and a hamster), and lives in Southwest London.
Duncan Adams is a Senior Civil Servant with 17 years; experience from the Department for International Trade, Department for Business, the Home Office and HMRC. He has private sector experience from short stints in KPMG, and a China focused growth consultancy.
He has experience of working closely with and influencing ministers, private sector, local, third sector, public sector, boards and senior stakeholders.
Duncan builds and leads successful and highly motivated teams, to design and deliver complex programmes.
