Carolyn Gelling, Chartered FCSI, Chartered Wealth Manager, Dip (IoD)
Carolyn is Head of Isle of Man Office for The International Stock Exchange Group, a responsive and innovative listing facility for international companies. With 20 years of financial services industry experience, Carolyn is a technical investment manager by training whose career to date has encompassed asset management, investment analysis, investment operations, before progressing into corporate governance and business and strategic development, for private clients and their structures, institutional clients, funds and investment businesses in both the UK and international business jurisdictions and for whom she has held board positions. Carolyn also has a wealth of experience of small business establishment and ‘scale ups’ from family and personal investments.
She is also a past Chairman of the Isle of Man Wealth & Fund Services Association, and now continues as a Committee Member and Life Member, and currently serves as a Committee Member of the Isle of Man Branch of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce Finance & Professional Services Committee.
In 2013 Carolyn was named in Citywealth Magazine's 'Isle of Man Future Leaders List', in 2017 included in the IFC Powerwomen Top 200 list and in 2018, included in the Citywealth Leaders List for Business Services Financial Advisory & UHNW Services.
Eric is an experienced international business man who started his career in the petroleum industry. He has worked on various projects from planning to top management in over 20 countries in both modern and primitive environments
In Norway he started a petroleum engineering company which was listed on the Norwegian Stock Exchange after just 5 years in operation (AXL). After 3 years as Chairman and CEO he divested the investment and moved to the Isle of Man in 2001.
Eric owns and participates in property developments and has been active in extensive financial trading since becoming a long term resident of the island. On property (Kennaa) was enhanced to provide the island film industry with a studio/production base where many of the island-made films have operated from. The Engine House initiative is now his primary focus for future activities.
Kristan is Chief Operating Officer at Manx Technology Group (MTG), a full service IT provider for companies across the globe. Despite still being a programmer at heart, Kristan has a wealth of experience across all aspects of the technology sector, having worked in the full spectrum of companies from small independent software houses to large, publicly listed corporates, along with a few medium size enterprises in between. Passionate about the Isle of Man, Kristan joined the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce in 2016 to gain a better understanding of the Islands business ecosystem and shortly thereafter was elected Chair of the then nascent “Future and Emerging Leaders” group, now simply known as “Fuel”. The group was given the remit of providing a voice to a new generation of business people and bringing an awareness of upcoming issues the Islands businesses will face in the coming years.
Now in 2019, Kristan has taken on the role of Vice President of Chamber to continue this work and help grow Chamber by making it a more accessible and inclusive business community and positioning it as the organisation to represent for the voice of business for the Island. As part of this, Chamber has recently launched its free Entrepreneur membership and has run a number of events focused on helping entrepreneurs grow.
Kristan is also a board member of Digital Isle of Man, one of four Executive Agencies set up as partnerships between the Department for Enterprise and the private sector. The agency is responsible for the digital sector on the island, encompassing e-Gaming, technology based businesses and the growing digital media sector. The board works closely with the agencies Chief Executive to help create a positive environment for digitally-focussed businesses and has recently launched its first major initiative in the Blockchain Office, designed to attract Blockchain based businesses to the Island and assist those already here to scale.
Katie Nicholson, MBA
Katie returned to the island after gaining a degree in Marketing and Management and an MBA. Upon returning to the island Katie gained 7 years industry experience in the software and e-gaming sectors with both PDMS and Paddy Power.
Coming from a family of entrepreneurs and business owners, Katie has enjoyed spending the last three years working in the early stage investment space - building key relationships and connecting investors, entrepreneurs and mentors to accelerate early stage, scale-up and growth companies on, or re-locating to the Isle of Man.
Katie is a board member of the Digital Isle of Man Executive Agency, past Chairman and now President of the Isle of Man Business Network and member of the Chamber of Commerce Fuel committee.
