IoD Manchester | How to be a Climate Conscious Leader

24 Apr 2019
IoD North West , Manchester

The evidence of the impact of human society, and businesses, on our climate has been clear for some years. The scale of the potential impact is increasingly being seen across the world and leaders across all sectors must respond. What is sometimes less clear is exactly how.

This event is designed to offer you an opportunity for you to come to your own, informed conclusions about how you can respond as a Leader in your business and community, whatever size or shape your business.

• Do you want to understand clearly, and concisely some of the key facts about climate change?

• Would you appreciate the space to think about what it all means to you, your life, your business and your community?

• Are you a business leader who is keen to understand how you can make a difference and explore the opportunities this can create?

"Environmental risks continue to dominate the results of our annual Global Risks Perception Survey (GRPS). …The results of climate inaction are becoming increasingly clear. The accelerating pace of biodiversity loss is a particular concern. Species abundance is down by 60% since 1970. In the human food chain, biodiversity loss is affecting health and socioeconomic development, with implications for well-being, productivity, and even regional security."

"The year 2018 was another one of storms, fires and floods. Of all risks, it is in relation to the environment that the world is most clearly sleepwalking into catastrophe."
World Economic Forum, Global Risks Report, 2019
