IoD Liverpool | Resilience - A Necessity for the Workplace and Beyond

15 Jan 2019
Tilney, Liverpool

This interactive event will focus on the all-important subject of workplace resilience.

In the past five years according to a study by the Federation of Small Businesses and Mind, the Mental Health Charity, employers have cited stress as the number one reason given by employees who take time off work. Work-related mental ill-health is costing businesses up to £26 billion every year, including:

  • £2.4 billion wasted on staff turnover due to poor mental wellbeing
  • £15.1 billion lost by unproductive staff at work who are unable to cope due to mental health issues
  • 70 million lost working days due to mental health problems

Developing your employees' personal resilience could significantly reduce the impact of mental health on your workforce and improve business performance.

Resilient employees cope better with adversity and are more likely to continue performing well when faced with challenges, as well as being better able to maintain their mental wellbeing. We have brought together two exceptional and inspirational speakers who hold authority when it comes to resilience in the workplace and personally: Firstly, a resilience coach to help and guide your learning and give you tools, activities and plans to take away.  Secondly, a person who’s resilience has been tested time and time and time again. His personal story of resilience will astound you.

What will be covered

  • An introduction to 'Resilience'
  • Overview of what threatens resilience and mental health in the workplace
  • How to boost your resilience and be a leading example
  • Fixed mindset vs growth mindset
  • Acknowledging responses that inhibit growth
