Chartered Director Event

Chartered Director Insight Session: Amazon Web Services

12 Jul 2017
Institute of Directors, London

Event overview:

Business transformation in the age of cyber-terrorism

On Friday 12 May 2017 we woke up to news that organisations around the world including the NHS were being targeted by a ransomware attack by the WannaCry cryptoworm, which affected computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system by encrypting data and demanding ransom payments in the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. While IT departments and security researches scrambled to limit the damage, many organisations discovered for the first time that knowledge of how well prepared they were for such an attack was something the Board did not have.

The advent of cloud computing and the opportunity to transform an organisation and the way it operates its IT can significantly increase the chances that it can weather such attacks or at the very least be better prepared for them. However, the ability of organisations to be able to execute large scale transformation and retirement of technical debt through adoption of the cloud is not simple and many organisations simply don’t know how to get started.

Join us on 12 July 2017 at 6:30pm to hear from Mario Thomas, Chartered Director and Senior Consultant, Global Advisory and Stephen Quigg, Principal Security Architect both from Amazon Web Services who will be sharing with us some of the insights they have learned from engagements with companies around the world who are transforming their businesses in the age of cyber-terrorism to the cloud.

Mario will present the organisational challenges he typically finds whilst Stephen will present the technical challenges he typically encounters with customers beginning the journey. At the end of the session you will have valuable insights to be able to return to your business and put them into effect.
