For over 100 years, we have represented individual business leaders across various sectors. We have created a number of benefits and effective business tools designed to support our members in their strategic decision-making and their ever-growing portfolio of responsibilities required of today's directors. We recognise that they have individual needs and we can help them meet their personal business challenges too.
The Information & Advisory Service provides IoD members with business intelligence and advice to help them run their business more successfully. Our Business Information Service can investigate business questions on your behalf and supply you with valuable information ranging from market forecasts and industry trends to trading abroad and employee salaries. The Directors' Advisory Service provides confidential, independent business advice from specialists on issues ranging from raising finance to board & shareholders' disputes.
In addition, members can receive prompt, confidential, business and personal tax and legal advice through our telephone helplines.

IoD Policy exists to exert influence in the corridors of power and to advance the case for business in Government, the media and other influential areas. Our future prosperity as a nation depends on enterprise, and so it is imperative that the views of business leaders are heard in all matters of economic and public policy. IoD Policy comprises specialists across all areas of public policy.
Drawing on the practical experience of members and the expertise of IoD Policy, we have developed a strong business voice. IoD Policy also provides regular commentary on the UK economic outlook and Policy publications keep members informed about the issues affecting their organisation.
- IoD Policy operates both in and out of the spotlight – challenging policy makers through the media, but also face to face, away from the public arena.
- Staff from IoD Policy meet regularly with Ministers and MPs of all parties and frequently propose changes to legislation under consideration by Parliament.
- Policy papers from the IoD make a substantial contribution to public debates.
- Key IoD Policy staff are in constant demand to present the ‘business case’ at conferences in the UK and overseas.
- The IoD Policy team also aim to look over the horizon, at future issues of significance to members.
- IoD members are encouraged to communicate their views to IoD Policy and contribute to the development of future policy through Policy Voice, the IoD's authoritative public policy panel.
At the IoD, we believe that excellence and professionalism in the boardroom are essential for business. To support and promote this belief, we run an extensive range of courses, conferences, seminars, development programmes and services specifically designed by directors for directors.
