Developing Board Performance

       

This three day interactive course requires delegates to act as board members, central to the activities and running of the organisation. You will challenge and utilise skills gained from your experience as a director in an applied and dynamic way, as a board facing a variety of challenges and crises.

       

Who should attend?

       

The course is aimed at directors and individuals who have completed the IoD’s Certificate in Company Direction (Chartered Director Stage 1) and wish to gain the Diploma in Company

       

What to expect

       

 

  • Replicates the issues experienced by a ‘real’ organisation – diagnosing and overcoming the challenges regularly faced by the board
  • An opportunity to receive feedback on your own impact and performance as the board reviews and appraises its own impact and effectiveness
  • Delegates will be required to apply their knowledge in constantly changing situations that evolve during the course.

       

Course Objectives

       

Participation on this course will enable you to:

 

  • Understand your board’s role; its dynamic, power, influence and conflicts
  • Gain knowledge of important topics including: risk and crisis management; decision-making; mergers and acquisitions; and board performance
  • Understand relevant techniques and tools to improve personal skills and that of the board
  • Evaluate and improve the performance of your board, its committees and individual directors
