Fraud is on the rise and its affects can destroy a business. A report by KPMG last year showed that the cost of fraudulent activity against public and private sector organisations increased by a third in the first six months of 2011 on the same period in 2010. It is just a prevalent in large firms as in smaller firms but the consequences on a small firm can be fatal. Fraud is an internal as well as external threat but there are checks and processes that can be put in place to minimise the risks.
