Chairman's Message - Spring 2012

Chris_Raper

After nine months into my term as Chairman it has been interesting to see how many companies are succeeding in these difficult times. Of course there are parts of the economy which are struggling but overall the picture is much more positive than at times we are led to believe. It seems to me that the companies that are succeeding are continually evolving by offering improved services or products, improving their competitiveness and making it easier to do business with them.
The Sussex Branch is continually trying to improve the support it gives its members by offering a new and varied programme of events to assist you in the development of your business and yourselves. Please be assured we are enthusiastic to support members in the pursuit of excellence in business. By attending events it also can create opportunities to make lasting relationships which could possibly lead to enhancing your business. In addition to events, the IoD represents your views on major topics, so please keep us advised of your views.

Chris Raper
Chairman, IoD Sussex

As your committee, often with further assistance from members, we organise a diverse calendar of high quality events, in interesting venues across both West and East Sussex. We encourage members to bring guests to any of these events. For a summary of upcoming events and to make offline booking quick and simple, download the latest Event Programme & Booking Form. Marketing Forum

The Marketing Forums began in the latter part of 2011. The sessions are both collaborative and supportive, looking at the issues and challenges faced in marketing. Each sitting has its own theme with the topic for the subsequent meeting being decided amongst the group. We plan to cover all the various aspects of marketing and have so far focused on social media and market research. The Marketing Forums are bi-monthly and will be held on the second Tuesday of the month beginning on 14 February.

Finance Forums

New for 2012, the Finance Forum is for anyone who has an interest in the financial and commercial aspects of business. Owner managers, CEOs, MDs, Non Exec Directors and finance professionals; it is a meeting of minds, sharing of information and networking but without the big “sell”. The Finance Forums will also be held bi-monthly on the third Thursday of the month.
Numbers for both the Marketing Forum and Finance Forum are strictly limited to ensure that all those attending have the opportunity to contribute and take away practical ideas that they can use in their business.
