It was very pleasing to see so many members attending Chris Ragg’s final “8.59” breakfast last week.
Although Chris is a very modest man it was heart warming to see so many giving thanks for his efforts over the years and particularly from those who have been inspired to go onto greater things. The “8.59” gives many of us a chance to reflect but also the opportunity to have “quality conversations” that can lead to so much more. I am sure that Richard Maybury will be continuing in that vein.
I hope also to think that we at IoD Surrey are so much more than a “speed dating network”.
To paraphrase Chris, perhaps we can consign the word ”networking” to the dustbin and continue with the more sophisticated, thought provoking way to learn and develop both our businesses and ourselves, that he has demonstrated to us so professionally over the years.

Your local branch has a good degree of autonomy and the committee is made up of twelve volunteer members, representing different business sectors across Surrey. We’re usually present at local events and are always available for you to contact should you have any questions. Please let us know if you think you might like to get involved in the committee helping out with events, membership or public relations.

We issue a hard copy newsletter every quarter. If you don’t receive this please check we have your current postal address on file. Remember, all IoD Surrey newsletters are put together by your committee and we always welcome feedback and ideas for content from our members.

Policy Voice is the IoD’s growing community of members, through which directors can share their views on the issues that matter and speak to the IoD as they develop polices and representations. In addition to Press and Government, Policy Voice feeds information to your local branch’s policy subgroup helping your committee understand your views. You are also entered into a prize draw every time you complete the short monthly survey online.
To take part in Policy voice we simply need you to email us (policyvoice@iod.com) with your IoD membership number. We will then send you a unique link to a brief profile survey – this should take less than 10 minutes of your time to complete.
We would like to encourage our members to opt-in to receive emails from IoD South. This will enable us to keep you up-to-date on the latest issues facing Southern businesses and with forthcoming events.
