Microsoft, Burger King, Fedex, and Procter & Gamble all grew out of an economic downturn.
Whether you are accessing finance to open up overseas markets, strengthen your management team, boost your marketing profile, invest in new equipment or simply build the business that you’ve always wanted, raising capital can seem like a daunting prospect.

In partnership with The North West Fund, the IoD will be hosting a series of events across the North West in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire and Merseyside for ambitious entrepreneurs.

The events will include a talk from an experienced entrepreneur to tell their own inspiring growth story and how they secured investment. Each session will be concluded with a high-energy access to finance taster session that will demystify the investment process and prepare attendees for the IoD’s Access to Finance event later in the year.

IoD Cheshire “Breakfast at the Chester Grosvenor”

Thursday 28th June 2012

7.45am - 9.30am

Members £25 + VAT, Non Members £35 + VAT

Simon Radley at the Chester Grosvenor, Eastgate, Chester, CH1 1LT

Join IoD Cheshire for an exclusive members’ event at the county’s only five-star hotel - The Chester Grosvenor.  The event will include a behind the scenes tour of this recently refurbished hotel, and guest speakers will give an insight into the impact of tourism in the county and why it matters to the region’s economy so much.

The major refit includs a £1million spend on a new kitchen and the opening of an exclusive chocolatier - Rococo Chocolates on the premises.

The event also includes breakfast in the Michelin starred restaurant.  Having held this status since 1990, it is one of only 4 elite UK restaurants to boast the accolade of being awarded one or more stars consecutively for more than two decades.

Following breakfast we will hear from an expert on the Cheshire visitor economy to explain the impact of tourism on the county – not just on Chester – and why it matters so much to the region’s economy.

Be one of the first to get behind the scenes of this major business in our region. Owned by the Duke of Westminster, the Grosvenor is a true Cheshire landmark, and a visit to see how it is managed and marketed to stay that way is not to be missed.

The IoD Business Breakfast at the RHS Show Tatton Park

Wednesday 18th July 2012

8.00am - 10.00am

The Tatton Club, RHS Show Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 6QN

The IoD Business Breakfast returns to the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park – but this year with exclusive access for members

We are delighted to announce that the ever popular Business Breakfast will return to the RHS Show Tatton Park this year, and for the first time in its 7 year history, we have secured exclusive access to the show for our members before it even opens to the public on Wednesday 18th July.

With catering provided by Fortnum and Mason in the beautiful Tatton Club, our members and guests will enjoy an English breakfast, with locally sourced produce, followed by our guest speaker - charismatic Garden & Landscape Designer, journalist and TV presenter James Alexander-Sinclair.

James has been gardening professionally for a quarter of a century.  He also finds time to present television programmes for the BBC and Channel 4 and gives lectures all over the country to diverse audiences from local gardening clubs to international flower shows.  He writes monthly columns in Gardeners’ World Magazine and The English Garden, and his famous garden in Northamptonshire has also featured widely in the garden press.  James’ public persona, complete with trademark hat, is witty, chatty and often brutally honest.  He will delight as he tells us how he got into the business ‘through bluff and bluster’ to become one of the leading designers in the country today.

This is always a very popular and enjoyable event to bring along colleagues, clients, friends or family.  Tickets include networking on arrival, breakfast, our speaker, a show programme and then full access to the show for the rest of the day.  Individual tickets or tables are available so please reserve your tickets now by booking online or calling the regional office on 0161 247 7634.

This year’s show is blooming with new features alongside the perennial favourites of striking gardens and spectacular floral displays. New for 2012 are the orchestra gardens, local schools are competing to fill trugs in the RHS Summer Fruit & Vegetable Competition and three young designers are battling it out to be named National Young Designer of the Year 2012. In the flower bed competition, entrants are marking the London Olympics with a 'Celebration of Sport' theme.
