Welcome to the Essex branch of the IoD - a branch which covers both the county of Essex (including the Southend on Sea and Thurrock unitary authorities) and some of the East London postal districts. It is an area of great diversity, stretching from densely populated urban areas in the south to agricultural and coastal landscapes in the rural north and east of the county.
With some 1,400 members, the Branch is one of the largest in the UK. 85% of our members are Directors and Partners of Essex Businesses, with some 40% being chairmen, CEOs & MD’s. 75% of our members work in companies employing less than 500 staff.
To add value to your membership, we organise events that are a mix of high calibre director development, networking and social occasions. Events are advertised to members on this website, in our quarterly Essex Newsletter and in our monthly mailings.
The Branch is run by a group of members from diverse business backgrounds who give their time voluntarily for a period of up to 3 years. The team is supported by Tina Weavers, our dedicated Branch Administrator, who is your first port of call for any queries about your membership and event bookings. However, I am always available via chairman.essex@iod.net if you would like to contact me directly.

The 2012 IoD Essex Branch Annual Members’ Meeting will take place at 07.50 on 24 May 2012, prior to the May Breakfast Event, at Channels Golf Club, Belsteads Farm Lane, Little Waltham, Chelmsford CM3 3PT.
All members are welcome to attend the meeting free of charge but the usual cost will apply if also attending the breakfast.

IoD Essex support for Essex soldiers and the Afghanistan Trust
Essex is renowned for being a county of entrepreneurship and it also has a strong military background, in particular with the Parachute Regiments based in Colchester. In recent year, a charity has been formed to support the wounded soldiers and families called the Afghanistan Trust. This is led by Colonel Stuart Tootal DSO and supported by Essex County Council and many local businesses.We are seeking support from IoD Essex members who would like to join us in volunteering some of their time to support the creation of a pro bono programme specifically to help the soldiers of Essex. We are particularly looking for help with coaching and mentoring and support with CV writing, interview skills, recruitment into new roles etc.This programme will be called PRIDE P (Parachute Regiment Institute of Directors Education Programme).For further information see the announcement of the launch of PRIDE P under Local News or contact the IoD Essex Branch Administrator at admin.essex@iod.net.
