Lincolnshire Branch

Lincolnshire

The Lincolnshire branch covers a very wide geographical area from the Humber ports of Grimsby and Immingham in the north to The Wash in the south east and Stamford in the south west. Although a comparatively small branch numerically with members spread across a wide rural landscape membership continues to grow. The branch has a busy programme of events which include professional workshops, factory visits and social activities and entertainment.

Lincolnshire may be perceived as perhaps being almost exclusively dependent on farming. However only a small percentage of the population now work in agriculture, although the county does boast some of the most productive and efficient farms in Europe and leading manufacturers and specialists in the agricultural industry.

More than 10 per cent of the nation's sea-borne trade is handled through the Humberside ports in the north of the county and the Port of Boston continues to grow in stature. Oil refining and steel-making industry is in North Lincolnshire whilst Lincoln, home to a diversity of specialist manufacturing and engineering companies, is positively booming. The opening of the University of Lincolnshire has given a fillip to the local economy.

The branch committee works hard to ensure that the diversity of county's industry and commerce is well represented and that members have a varied choice of professional and social activities.
