Beating Retreat - 12 or 13 June 2013

London’s Famous Horse Guards Parade once again plays host to the magnificent pageant that is the Beating Retreat. The acclaimed Massed Bands of the Household Division will once again provide the rousing music to this spectacular event.

Guests will enjoy a Pimms reception before taking the short walk to Horse Guards Parade to enjoy the ceremony. The evening will conclude with a two course dinner with wine in the 116 Restaurant.

Tickets will cost £67.50 per person inc VAT.

Summer parties at the IoD

The beautiful mature garden adjoining the IoD Restaurant is a wonderful space for parties. It is always available to members for drinks when the weather is warmer, but this year, due to member demand, we are allowing the garden and restaurant to be hired on selected dates during the summer months.

Perfect for drinks receptions, corporate gatherings and dinners, we are delighted to be able to offer our members fantastic rates and as an added benefit, we will include the garden hire for free.

We can create bespoke packages for events, helping with entertainment, food choices and marquee hire. The space is extremely flexible and completely unique. There are very few outside spaces to hire in central London and we are delighted to be able to offer this unique space to our members.

Private dining

A popular spot for private dining, it has played host to a Masterchef semi final, numerous contract signings, family celebrations and the odd familiar face. It offers vast flexibility as the space is cleverly split into three sections with each end being able to be made private with one swift pull of the stunning 20t silk curtains that hang there.

From a large table of 20, to 4 round tables of 10, you can use the trendy cocktail bar or garden area for a drinks reception and then your meal can be in the privacy of your own area of the room. Both ends have ample natural daylight and the walls are adorned with fantastic military pictures.

Directors' Wine Club

Launched in early 2012, the Directors' Wine Club was introduced by General Manager Serge Pradier as a means of introducing hand-picked wines from around the world to IoD members.

The Wine Club offers IoD members exclusive wines which can be purchased at discounted prices.

The Cocktail bar and lounge offers a relaxing area in which to enjoy aperitifs or after dinner drinks, and live music in the evenings. With soft leather furnishings and stylish surroundings this is the perfect venue for relaxing and entertaining, day or night.

You can enjoy our superb range of cocktails, specially selected whiskies, spirits, beers and wines by the glass and if the weather permits you can take advantage of the beautifully manicured private gardens where you can escape the rush and enjoy the warmer weather, a rare treat in central London.

The 116 Pall Mall After Hours events calendar offers you every excuse to entertain someone special or valued clients and colleagues. There are events to suit all tastes, from live music and fine food and wine to seats at world famous theatre shows.
